Julie has provided a little insight into the BCF
The British Chess Federation wasn't actually wound up completely when its main activities morphed into the ECF. It was kept going to manage legacy funds and to be there in case anyone had left anything to the BCF and not got round to amending their will before they died. This actually proved beneficial when the late John Robinson left substantial sums and which remain invested and supporting various chess activities to this day, although much of it is intended now to be transferred to the recently established charity The Chess Trust.
Directors of the ECF are automatically deemed to be Directors of the BCF as well, and meetings of the BCF Council are always fitted into the middle of ECF Council meetings, usually just to approve accounts.
